Looks like they went for the dull finish on the iPod Touch vs the shiny that the iPhone has. The dock on the iPod Touch also looks more "Leopard" like.

I like the Dock.

I wish the colors were a little more muted. I don't like my screen looking like a pack of Starburst.

So the only thing missing from the iphone touch that the iphone has is obviously the phone and sms features.
Also email, weather, stocks, camera, maps and notes.
If the touch had an email application I could consider ditching the iphone and just going with an ipod touch.

So i think i missed when the music store is coming to my phone? When did they say it will be up and running?

I would much rather not have the chrome on the iPhone because it draws a lot of uneeded attention. Well I guess its a double edge sword...:D

looks like the calculator icon had an update for the iphone also.

as long as the iphone has wireless music store im happy.

about the ipod touch, i really dont like it.. the only thing i like about it is the dock, which iphone will probably be getting also.

I didn't notice the calculator update, cool.

I myself am not a fan of the iPod Touch either, BUT that's probably in large part due to having an iPhone.

If I didn't have an iPhone and was not going to get one for whatever reason, I would surely bet getting the iPod Touch.

Variety is good -

I'm kinda jealous the touch is thinner than the iPhone and has the matte chrome though :)

So where is this update that will include the calc. icon and the music store update? When the music store is up? so like the end of the day or tomorrow or something? iPod touch is just like the iphone without a phone functionality, email, and EDGE. Besides that there are some little things but ehhh. Anyway, im glad Apple split up the ipod classic and the ipod touch. It makes more sense that way, especially with the HD size vs. the Flash size.

Over here in the UK the iPhone hasn't been released yet and I was intending on buying one when it became available.

With the release of the iPod touch on the 28th of September I am wondering what to do.

Both devices have their own advantages, the touch is much cheaper (£199 over here) and no contract unlike the iPhone. On the other hand the iPhone has all those widgets and additional features that made it really appealing.

If the touch had a built in email application I would be swayed to purchase it on the day it came out but I am in sort of a dilema.

I have heard that the data speeds of the iPhone aren't brilliant and I would only really be interested in using the device in wifi areas so that is a pro for the touch. On the other hand iPod, SMS, email, widgets, internet and phone functionality is nice to have in one package.

My options really are to either buy the iPod touch on release date with the posibility of the iPhone being released at only £50 more or so and have that regret festering in the back of my mind or wait for an indefinite amount of time for a device that could cost anything and have a high priced contract.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Myself waiting for the iPhone in France. Look like I have same dilema as you. Imagine the phone is released here for December.... That means 1 month before Steve Jobs will probably anounce the version 2

So that's why I ordered the 8GB iPod Touch today. I paid it 309 Euros. Then I will buy the iPhone v2 later
