Ipod Touch won't play in docking station

Hello all, first time poster long time reader.

I have a 64 gb touch running IOS4.

Yesterday my dock (http://pan.fotovista.com/dev/9/5/00065759/l_00065759.jpg) stopped playing music. The dock will recharge the ipod, but not play anything. The cable from the docking station works fine, also the ipod works fine without the cable.

One thing i noticed is, that the volume control completely dissapears when the ipod is in the docking station. It seems as if the "line out" doesn't work anymore. The docking station is only 6 months old and hasnt been moved around.

Is this a common problem and is there a way to fix it?

You might try another dock to see if its the ipod or the dock.
