iPod Ipod video hard drive replacement question

I've got an Ipod video 5.0 with a 30 gig hard drive. My hard drive has started to have some issues and I want to replace it. I know with a 5.5 you can upgrade to a larger hard drive but I'm wondering if the 5.0 is compatible with the larger drives or if I need to stick with the 30 gig?
