My 80gb ipod classic will play movies through my ps3, but I can't even get the ps3 to pick up on the iphone. Any reason why? Can we make this happen? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The video cable for the iPod with video is different than the video cable for the iPhone.

You'll need to get a new cable.

What cable do I get? With the ipod, I just used the usb that came with it. I tried using the iphone cable that I use to sync.

To use ipod on ps3 simply connect the ipod to ps3 usb and go to video, press triangle, then search for files.

Ah... I assumed you were using video passthrough of some kind. Passing composite or s-video from the iPod through eh PS3.

If the PS3 can access songs and video direct via USB connection to an iPod, it might not be able to access the iPhone the same way. I know a lot of old iPod accessories didn't work on the iPhone because of differences in how it interfaces with accessories. Particularly if the PS3 uses hard disk mode to access the files, since the iPhone doesn't support this mode.

I'm afraid I can't help you more.

I have read elsewhere about the ipod being used as a hard drive but the iphone can not. Can flash mem. not be read by outside sources? Could someone elaborate?
