ipod with OS9/itunes 2.0.4

Hello,

I've got a friend with a new ipod and she is using OS9. She says when she connects the ipod to her mac, it doesn't show up in itunes therefore she can't put any music in her ipod.

Does anyone else use an ipod with OS9 or have any ideas how to get around this problem?
