Earlier today I was at work and I scanned the iPods just cause I was bored, and the scanner showed the iPods as "discontinued" in the PDA system. Not shocking, I know, but I just thought I'd share. ;)

They sell all the iPod flavors at Target (minus the red nano) but a majority were coming up as discontinued.

They usually stock all the models. Surprising if they are all disc.

The PDAs got really snazzy though, when I worked there they were black&white and not nearly as fancy looking. Of course you have those fancy badges/ids now that I never had either. Times a-changin'.

That could indicate the impending iPod refresh! *gasp!* :p
Maybe....:p

Yeah, the fancy looking interface is called "Item Search" it got added about 2 years ago. It's really helpful because it can find anything sold in store or online and even tell you info on other Target stores. The black/white interface is still used though. :D

I was in my local walmart today and they were sold out of every 2nd gen shuffle, had only 1 silver and one black 3rd gen shuffle, only had 4 nanos, had 1 classic and only 1 of each Touch. I asked the walmart guy if they had anymore ipod shuffles and he said that the model had been discontinued and they will not receive anymore ipods until September.

I was at target and they're were a limited amount of iPod nano's and iPod touch's. They're were no classic's or shuffle's. Also at Costco the iPod stand only had iPod nano's in display.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Hopefully they've just run out of all the current models, and are waiting to restock the next generation when they arrive.
First week of September, I think?

Ooo wow, this really does sound a sign of an upcoming refresh, I can't imagine any other reason why huge chains such as Target and Wal-Mart would be "discontinuing" iPods.

I'm excited to see what the new iPods are like, every time they put out new iPods it really is some of their best keynote presentations.
