Hi, first time poster long time lurker! Anyways, was wondering if you guys/gals could help, or at least guide me with some questions. I want to sell my 2G iPhone to my friend, but the problem is he is on t mobile (U.S). I know you can unlock it and put it on any GSM carrier, but I have 2.1.1 and I don't know how to downgrade it to an unlockable version, if at all possible(I am using Windows BTW). I know how to go about unlocking once the iPhone is using a hackable version, but I dont know how to downgrade firmware. I used the search engine and searched google, but could not find any thing specifcally about downgrading 2.1.1. So my question is how do you downgrade your firmware and also how can I "wipe" the phone before resale?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

First of, you don't need to downgrade. Just use QuickPwn on your iPhone will it has the 2.1.0 update. Do not update it to 2.2.0 just yet, because QuickPwn does not support 2.2.0 firmware yet, and update to QuickPwn will be made available, but not right now.

To wipe entirely go to Settings > General > Reset > Select "Erase all Content and Settings"

The process will take some time as the iPhone will delete everything from itself and will reset all settings.

I thought quickpwn was for Mac only? Besides from the quickpwn website: "As of now it only allows you to jailbreak firmware 2.0.1. Some users have reported that it works with firmware 2.0.2" I have firware 2.1.1. Are you saying it works for 2.1.1? (Sorry for any "noob/newb" questions)

Thanks for all your help! Are you sure quickpwn for windows unlocks 2.1.1? I will try it anyways, what is the worse that can happen? Turn my 2G iPhone into a fancy paperweight?

2.1.1? it can do 2.1 didn't even know that 2.1.1 existed! but I JB'd mine 2.1 with QuickPwn in XP. and then I did it again in Vista. so yeah, it works.

Maybe it is 2.1, but I could of swore last time i hooked it up it said it was running version 2.1.1, maybe I am going crazy. I will definitely use that guide and once again thank you very much!

The 2.0 firmware versions are as follows:

2.0.0
2.0.1
2.0.2
2.1.0
2.2.0

Those are it.

For more clarification on QuickPwn see my signature regarding the iPhone. iClarified has great tutorials that are easy to follow.

QuickPwn Windows does support 2.1.0.
