Happy owner of an iPPM14, however, even after 2.5 years I still find it too big and heavy.

I will update next year (2026).

In the meantime, I am just curious to understand if smaller phones (say iP16 or iPP16 alike) have good battery in these days. Comparable to mine when new? Battery health is at 94%.

Nothing competes with the Pro Max in terms of battery life unless is another Max sized iPhone. The 16e isn’t far off though, apparently.

With the plethora of MagSafe battery packs, I have grown less concerned over battery life issues. I still use the iPhone 14PM for beta testing and an iPhone 16PM as my daily use phone. I picked up a couple of Lissen 5k MagSafe battery packs for around $25 each for my wife and me. These battery packs are thin and light and a great way to top off your phone if you need it.

With all of that said, I charge my phones to 80% over night and usually finish the day with 25-30% charge remaining. Your usage may be different, but I just don’t stress over battery life any more.

Neither is the 16 Plus, rated for 27 hours vs the 33 hours of the 16 Pro Max.

In my experience, Apple spec is only achievable with extreme efficiency: low brightness, most (or all) draining settings disabled, and light use. But it is achievable.

Apple rated the iPhone Xʀ for 16 hours of SOT and I’ve gotten 18.5 and my 16 Plus I haven’t tested yet, but extrapolated results have reached that number.

Obviously the Apple spec is unattainable via normal use and is only representative of a controlled environment. The Plus sized phones contain enough battery to last considerably more than an entire day of use therefore they represent the gold standard. I can run any other phone down to sub 10% when new but I don’t think I’d be able to do it with a Plus sized device unless the battery is older and the phone has been through a number of firmware updates.

Thanks all, so looks like if I want to benefit from the same battery I need to stay with the larger phones. Good that I have 1.5 years as I wouldn’t know what to do right now lol

Ideally an Air, light, thin, with good camera and battery!

It is not worth for you to get a new phone now. All iPhones nowadays are large, heavy and thick. Pro models and regular ones are just slightly smaller than your 14 PM, as well as you certainly will have worse battery life than you have now. Also, 94% is very good condition. You can keep this phone for 2 more years with no issues whatsoever. And newer iPhone 16 Pro is even larger than baseline 14 Pro was, you should try them both side-by-side in store and see for yourself

I am on 14 as well. Almost ~3 years. Battery health 87%.

I am not a heavy user - but battery still feels inadequate - as in I would appreciate bigger charging gaps. I prefer light/clean looking phones and good battery. I barely notice camera quality on any phone (let alone an iPhone) - last time I played a game on a phone must have been 20 years ago (wasn't a smartphone) and on computer like 10 years ago.

I am getting good exchange value for it when I am trying to buy 16e. Should I get 16e, or when 17 comes (which is not far) the price of 16e or even 16 will go down further? (This is certain that I will definitely not be buying 17!).
