IR File transfer

Hi Guys,
I'm after transferring a load of photos from my camera to my MBP. Unfortunately I've left the cable about 200 miles away and I don't want to have to buy another one.

My camera has an IR sender/receiver - does anyone know if it's possible to send/receive via the IR port on the front of the MBP, or is it just for the apple remote?

i think it's only for the remote.
