When I saw them my first thought was 'Apple'

Second thought: very lame.

Third thought: Is it going to rain today?

Honestly, it's a really unimaginative campaign.

Yeah, I guess Steve Jobs won't be having to much trouble sleeping because of them. Perhaps Apple's next Ipod advert could just have a big pie chart of the market share.

Whenever Apple makes a dig at Longhorn, people here get giddy like schoolgirls.

Its just more bias. Sure, its not a great advert, but its not like Apple's adverts....when they make them..... are so great.

Beg to disagree. I couldn't give a toss about Longhorn... but Apple's advertising (when it exists) is in a different class from this mediocre jobsmanlike campaign.

The main problem with Apple ads is that they are not localised very well. They still look like American adverts and look slightly out of place in UK. And there arnt anough of them.

However, the iPod ads were inspired. Very simple, vivid imagery. I think it works wonders.

Have you how noticed hardly any iPod ads show the iPod close up? It doesn't need to. It builds up the iPod brand very nicely and I cant get that damn Ceaser song out of my head now.

I dont know whats going on with the iRiver ads. The actual player itself is pretty good but the ads look like they were translated from Cantonese or something. There is a lack of focus. The Apple dig is far too subtle. The ads dont tell you what its actually advertising- OK we know that the iRiver is an MP3 player brand, but yer average iPod wearing London Underground commuter might have to study the ads a bit.

I'm not talking about the technicalities of the ads themselves, although you're right, the apple reference isn't so noticeable unless you're a Mac-head or something, and lets face it, most people aren't. A "dig" at another company shouldn't be obvious to everyone, but it should be noticeable to at least 1/5 of your audience. However, the advertising, even when its an Apple advert, isn't cool. Its not interesting or cool at all. Maybe I need to be older to "get it," but I don't.

The iPod silhouette adverts were very great for the first month I saw them. Now they're so overplayed that they're not cool, and anything that copies it is automatically not cool. Even when Apple uses it now, its lame.

And while I have only lived in Toronto, London, and near Sydney for a good amount of time, none of which are heavy with Apple TV adverts, the ones I've seen are poor. When the G5 first came out and you saw someone get blown out of his house and the camera zoomed into the house and eventually got to a G5.......well..... I thought that ad was lame too.

The ads for the Mac have never been all that great, admittedly. But with all adverts its a question of taste. Your opinion on the iPod ads are very subjective, which is fair enough as its is your opinion.

But looking at the ads technically, I think they have done the job very well, even if you do get sick of them. Which is what the admen want to happen.

hahaha that was very clever of iriver...
i personally think that iriver makes more versitile/reliable mp3 players.

speaking from experience, ive owned 3 ipods and 1 iriver

Also... the woman winks who eats the Apple...

...but now I'm hungry for a juicy red apple

It seems like every company's ad dept works so hard to take a bite out of Apple and in the end the consumer just notices the apple...
