macOS irssi help

Hey, I just installed irssi last night, using Darwinports, but whenever I run it and try to connect to a server, nothing happens. It just shows 'Looking up irc.gamesurge.net', and that's it. When I try to join a chan, it says not connected to server.

Funny thing is, I can ping these servers fine from terminal, and other irc clients work fine, but I can't get irssi to connect... I dont' even see an error, anywhere. Any thoughts?

I got the same problem. Just reinstalled my system and darwinport (1.3.1), but irssi(0.8.10a) didn't work. My old system with irssi 0.8.10 (installed using darwinports too) works fine, so I think it's a prob with 0.8.10a and darwinports.

According to the irssi site the 0.8.10a is just a "repackaged" 0.8.10 release. Not sure what happened, but someone *cough* darwinports *cough* should build a new 0.8.10 from source if the existing binary is fubar'd.
