was just at a FutureShop using their display 27" 2009 imac
i checked the screen using the yellow tint link
and this imac was perfect - no colour variation whatsoever
it was built in feb of 2009

the guy at the store said the yellow screens were recalled in november and they're all good now

he also suggested the 2009 i5 quad is a better deal than the new one. he said there is very little difference and you save 200 bucks buying the 2009

certainly are sweet machines

the 2009 was $1,899 the new one $2,099.
this is in Canada

yeah, maybe a '09 i5 quad refurb is the way to go?

thanks HH

wow, that's 500 bucks less than the new one
with apparently very little difference

can apple add ram to a refurb?
is it difficult to add ram to an imac myself?

holy jeeze, that is easy.
i guess the imac would come with 4 1-gig modules
which means if i wanted to upgrade to say 8 gigs
i'd get 2 fours or 4 two's?
is OWC the best place to buy ram?

iMacs come with 2x2GB so you only need an extra 2x2GB to make it 4x2GB = 8GB. OWC is great place to buy, great quality and good prices

It's my choice, refurb i5 Quad ... 1500$ aprox. Much cheaper... I hope to get clean one, no lemon-tint.
