Is 17" HiRes Matte Display the New Delivery Choke Point?

My corporate order for a MBP 2.4, 17" hi-res matte, 4 gig, Final Cut Express went to Apple on June 26. Since there was then a delay on 7200 160gb drives, I ordered the stock 5400 to avoid delay. At the time, shipping was showing at 2-4 business days. Now, apparently because of the hi-res matte display the shipping date is Aug 9! The website shows no delay on the 17" hi-res glossy or the stock 17" matte.

Has anyone else seen delay this long on the 17" high-res matte?

This is my first post since this will be my first Mac after several generations of ThinkPads whose only flaws were the OS.

Is there no local retailers you could get it from instead?

A guy at a local mac store where I live told me that there is no delay on the 7200 rpm drives anymore, but there is a delay on the high res 17" screens.

not sure thats true, i got mine two days ago ordered 27th June, spot on the estimated arrival date apple gave me.

Got mine in less than a week with 7200 rpm 160 GB HDD and 17" Hi res. It took them two days to "fill order." I must have ordered the last one.
