Is 3G disabled for unlocked iPhones on TMOUSA?

Please forgive me if this has already been asked, but can you use 3G on the unlocked iPhone 3G with TMOBILE USA....?

When 3G is turned on we get no service, with it turned off calling and texting works fine but we get no data (it says no data service subscribed, however the employee at the tmo store knew what we were doing and said she would sign us up for the appropriate data plan)

No 3G service on Tmobile in US because Tmobile uses a band which the iPhone does not read.

Edge is the best you will get with Tmobile (or use WiFi)

Ah thats stupid but thankyou...

Any answer as to why we can't access data still through edge?

You will get no 3G on your iphone as long as your on t-mobile USA

ATTs 3G network and t-mobiles 3G network run on different frequencies


and if a t-mobile rep says that they will sign you up for the appropriate data plan, it may be around $25 or more for only edge speeds
