Is a 27' iMac replacement worth it?

Hello everyone. I've read many of the posts about the various issues with the iMac 27'. I'm on my third one now, and this one has the screen noise issue some have mentioned, where two noises, a high pitched "dog whistle" sound and a clicking wheel sound, emanate from the top left corner when the brightness is lowered anywhere past the maximum setting. Some backlight bleed exists as well, but other than that the machine is perfect. The rep at the Apple Store, Japan (where I live), already offered to send me a replacement, but now I'm thinking that I may as well just stick with what I've got. Mine is a Week 14. My concern is not really the noise caused by the brightness settings but that this noise is, as some have suggested, connected to a power source problem or other problem that could worsen over time and cause something seriously bad to happen. Does anyone have any advice about this? Is the problem harmless and not worth going through the hassle of getting the whole unit replaced again, or should I be cautious about this and go for the replacement? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would get a new replacement, if that is what they are offering you.

IMO you should Not settle. you paid a lot for a top of line computer and should expect it to do everything right and not have the distraction of a whistle sound and worry about what that sound may imply

Not to kill your hope, but be prepare to receive your replacement with the same issue.

Yes, I am concerned about that and realize that I am likely to face the same issues with the new unit. I have also read that Apple has changed its policy regarding replacements and is now allowing one and only one replacement, no matter what. I haven't been able to confirm this, but this is definitely a concern, as if the new unit is even worse, then I am stuck. It really is a shame that such a highly esteemed product has been plagued with such debilitating issues. Then again, as some have said, it is partly the case that we have come to expect absolute perfection with these machines and perhaps that is asking too much of any product. Thanks for your input!

I know it's not an option for everyone, but i've decided to wait for the next imac update. Already returned four iMac's and at this point I think my bad luck has more to do with quality control than with karma, or whatever else you believe in. Im just hoping the next update is sooner than later.

I think that's a good idea, to wait. I hope the revision is a little more problem-free!
