iPad Is a 2nd Generation Ipad (WiFi only) worth keeping?

Hello,

I was in the process of cleaning out my closets and found my old 2nd Generation 16gb Ipad. I didn't find the charger.

Do guys think it would be worth it to get a charger?

Or you think it's too old to upgrade, in order to be able to use with current OS and current programs?

It depends on what you want to do with it. They are great for young kids who aren't going to do anything super intensive on it. The 2nd gen will not run the latest OS so some features and applications will be limited.

Worth is up to you. But I think if it still functions and you can find a cheap reliable MFI third-party charger, it would still serve it's purpose for basic media tasks and/or other light productivity.

I repurposed my mother's for use with her grandchildren. Works perfectly for that. I keep one in the living room on remote app duty. They definitely are still useful. If the iPad hasn't been updated to a recent version of iOS—don't. You'll be much happier running an older OS than you will be running the last supported version or two.

Perhaps with simple documents, word editing , notetaking, Photos. And it's just nice to have an in between your laptop and iPhone.

I use my old 2nd gen iPad (WiFi only) as a presentation station for our church. It can handle video playlists, announcement slides, and a variety of multimedia tasks with ease. If you can't use it yourself, I suggest consider donating it to a worthy cause.

I gave mine away last month as I inherited Mrs AFB's iPad Air when I bought her the Pro.
It was on iOS 6. It was fine for web browsing. Getting apps to run was okay until I enabled two step authentication on my iPhone and that killed it tbh.
But it was only running a few older apps by then anyway.

Dunno if you’re into that kind of stuff, but the iPad 2 goes to of a max of iOS 9.3.5, so you can jailbreak it and add a lot of new features, apps that aren’t regularly aloud in the AppStore, speed up animations and such. I’d do it I were you, and isn’t that hard to do. Just a program you download on the computer, connect your iPad and a few clicks.

I just gave a couple of old iPad 2 16GB to my girlfriends kids (Ages 5 and 8). They use them to play music, youtube, FaceTime, iMessage, and a few games. The oldest one plays Madden Mobile on it quite a bit and it runs it just fine.

Like many others have said, repurpose it. You won't make any money selling it. Macrumors trade in site says its only worth $10. I mean unless you want to trade it and wait to get 10
