If I only using it to feel phone calls by vibration sense my current iPhone doesn't vibrate loud enough?

I know turn on the sound I can't.

I am still trying to figure out if it's worth it for me... I'm not sure yet.
If you are using it just for the vibrate functionality, you could probably find something less expensive and less invasive than an Apple Watch.

Apple gives a two week evaluation period! I would think that with two weeks people can decide without asking strangers. Also I consider the title of this thread bordering on trolling.

They do not allow a two week evaluation period of the cellular

Of course a broad question like “is it worth it?” will depend a lot on your own personal use case but for myself it absolutely is.
  • Wakes me up via silent vibration without waking up my girlfriend.
  • Helps to remind me of & track my healthy habits to keep me motivated.
  • Can reply to overtime availability group texts before anyone else can.
  • Unlocks my MacBook Air without having to enter the password.
  • Finds my ‘lost’ iPhone via loud ping when I have it on silent at home.
  • Lets me leave my phone in my pocket and still not miss anything.
Of course someone else might see this list and say that none of this applies to them. But for me the Series 1 I bought 2 years ago for $129 has more than paid for itself 🙂

Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for!

I lose my phone all the time at home.

Thanks.

Apple gives a two week evaluation on all watches. One reason to purchase from Apple and not someone else.

I have the cellular version. And for me... it’s worth it. It just provides that freedom of not having to carry the iPhone anywhere and everywhere.

I wish more developers support it, but the idea of having a computer on your wrist... that’s the selling point for me. And addition to that... No company can compete to what the Apple Watch can offer from the standpoint of being so integrated with the iPhone.

What about the fee to activate the Apple Watch on your cell phone provider and the monthly fee ?

This is exactly why I looked at the Apple Watch. I'm hearing impaired and cannot hear my phone ring, and I often miss the vibrations since they are not powerful enough. The Apple Watch gives me notification right on my wrist.. notifications I can't miss. It's definitely worth it to me.

I have no idea who your cell phone service provider is. The monthly fee would be the same. Activation fee might vary. Nor do I know your location.

I am often at a loss to understand the logic of people on this forum. People are willing to spend a considerable sum on the S5 Apple Watch, yet they quibble about activation fee for cellular and are willing to forgo the convenience of Apple’s two week evaluation.

For Verizon, the difference may be about $20! Moreover Verizon charges a restock fee, which can exceed the $20. No fee with Apple.

Love the unlocking with my MacBook...very nice touch

Same problem here.

I love it for when I can't hear my phone and also for GPS. When I have Siri directions going on my iPhone, the watch also gives me a vibration right on my wrist that I "feel", signifying that the next turn is coming up and also shows an arrow for the direction of the turn. Since my hand is already on the steering wheel it's just a glance. So handy!

I mean Apple watch will do that and a whole lot more. I definitely appreciate the haptic feedback on my wrist when the phone rings because sometimes when I'm at home, I forget to turn the ringer back on. That's just one aspect of why I really like LOVE my Apple Watch. At first, I was just wanting notifications which wasn't necessary, but nice. Mind you, I've always worn a watch but before Apple Watch, they were always traditional watches. Now I have an AW on my wrist unless I'm in the shower. Here are a few uses I find helpful:

I'm using AW for Sleep tracking to help promote a better sleep rhythm
Haptic feedback on Alarm
Notifications
Exercise/activity tracking and motivation
I work a desk job and at home and appreciate the stand reminders
Breathe reminders
Notifications on wrist when traveling for flight changes or delays. In loud places like an airport the haptic feedback is awesome
Ability to answer calls when I'm not near my phone
Ability to control my Bose system's volume
Use the watch as a remote to take pictures with 3rd party camera apps
Lock/Unlock/sound horn or start my vehicle

There are probably a few things I'm missing and probably a lot more I could do with it that I've not discovered yet.

Take a look at the s3 model. It is only $200 right now. It will fill your needs.

Obviously, any generation will fill their needs. But I would recommend the 4th generation primarily due to the screen. I’ve had the S2 and I skipped on the S3, but having the S4 is similar to upgrading from the iPhone 5s to iPhone 6/6 Plus.

Although, the S3 can be bought at a cheaper price... the S4 is the better buy.

Given Max has a limited need and appears to be very guarded about purchasing, I suggested the s3. It is very affordable, great battery life and feature rich. If he wasn’t reticent with limited need, I would have suggested s4.

Series 3 38mm will be $129 on Black Friday at Walmart. $159 if you want the bigger model, An amazing deal.

Thread title:

Is a Apple Watch really worth it.....

There’s probably been at least 100 threads with something similar to that specific thread title, the same advice I always give to everyone, try it out for 14 days, if you don’t like it, return it and get your money back. It’s that easy.

If that's genuinely all that you need, you have tons of options in non-Apple fitness tracker bands. For example, you could buy a new-old-stock 5-year-old Fitbit for $35 on eBay that would do incoming call vibrations, last 5-7 days on a charge, and be a lot smaller/lighter than an Apple Watch. Or for a few bucks more, a Misfit Shine 2, which lasts up to six months on a replaceable battery. (Or any of the hundred other options from other fitness tracker companies.)

I'm not saying you shouldn't get an Apple Watch. But if call vibrations is all you need, other options may be a better fit.

Thanks very helpful but does other options have the same intergation as a Apple Watch ? Guessing no.

I agree with @i486dx2-66 completely. If all you want is vibration for phone call you don’t need all the integrations Apple Watch has. But if you insist you can get by easily with Apple Watch Series 2 which could be really cheap for 2nd hand one.
