Can anyone with both a CD MBP and C2D MBP answer this question:

Are the C2D MBPs a bit brighter than the CD MBP? I went to the Apple store tonight. Both of the matte 15" C2D MBPs were brighter overall than the matte 17" CD MBPs. Both had brightness set to full.

Or, is the 17" just dimmer than the 15" model anyway?

There was no 17" C2D MBP to compare

thanks

Hmm. yeah let's see if someone with a 17" C2D MBP matte chimes in. All I know is when I was in the store, the two matte 17" Core Duo MBPs on display were dimmer than the Core 2 Duo 15" matte models.

No Core 2 Duo matte 17" on display yet.

When I went to Fry's Electronics, same results

hmm if they are brighter I'd find it odd that apple wouldn't advertise that as so, they seem to love putting in little things like "now 12.89% brighter than previous macbook pros!"

haha, true. I suspect it was just the way I perceived it. Perhaps the light is more concentrated on the 15" surface

Finally I have arrived.....
MBPs displayed at the Apple stores are usually crank out their display brightness to the full. So, it's possible the older CD MBP's display's backlights may have been weakened because of the prolonged full-brightness usage.
