after seeing the pushdoctor and whatnot i wondered why i actually have the pushfix app installed from sinful repo.

is it needed? all i did was jailbreak my phone (3gs 16gb att 3.1.2)

if push is working

then you don't need pushfix or pushdoctor if your push isn't working then try pushfix!

If it Ain't broke don't fix it! (Simple)

You more then likely messed up your push notifications. You only need it if your using your iPhone on a "unofficial" carrier. Here in the US that means on T-Mobile.

does that mean if i uninstall then the settings will return or do i have to completely restore?

thanks for the info you guys i really appreciate it. i consider myself to have decent knowledge of jailbreaking except this has always boggled me.
