Im very skeptical on going to the XI version and id like to hear a few comments on why should i or not :)

I want to use Pro in order to be able to view pdf files, check their colors and trapping info for prepress.

I can't afford to be paying every now and then the subscription plan

I used Acrobat 9.4.1 Pro for years, up the middle of last week. 9 is old, but will do the job and doesn't require a subscription. If XI is old then that makes 9 ancient but means XI can do the job as well.

Using DC Pro now though.

I use XI Pro at home. I've been using it since it came out. No problems here.

I liked 9.x a lot. The new ones have more features, but the old stuff seemed snappy compared to the new stuff.

Yeah, getting used to DC Pro has been a head trip. I went direct from 9 so finding where Adobe has put things has been difficult.

I actually prefer Acrobat 6, mainly because that's the one I used the longest, but 9 was good.

It's typical Adobe though. Adding feature bloat for the sake of pushing the sale of a "new" product. Most of this stuff I don't use anyway.

Is there anyone using XI now or are you all using DC?

Sorry, I thought I replied to this. Yes, I agree with your post. Though the biggest issue I had with 9.x was that it was slow and buggy-ish.

For me Adobe Acrobat XI Pro worked well up to Mac OS X 10.11.x El Capitan. After upgrading to macOS 10.12.x Sierra, Acrobat XI had problems overwriting older files with newer files that had the same name.

Like @chrfr pointed out, there still is Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, aka Adobe Acrobat 2017 Pro, available as a perpetual license, that is running fine on macOS Sierra.

I could upgrade Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, that came with Adobe Creative Suite 6, to Adobe Acrobat 2017 Pro TLP. The TLP license is intended for enterprise customers, but not limited to them. Means, TLP can also be bought by private users. If you're planning to upgrade Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, I recommend to hurry, as the formerly known Adobe policy to upgrade just from the last two versions didn't change. That said, as soon as there'll be a new version of Adobe Acrobat Pro out, you missed the last upgrade chance.
