Hi there.
I am getting an imac but am stuck as to which one. I would like to know from users experience if the 3.06 i3 processor is powerful enough and can easily run software such as photoshop and flash. Also i would like to know whether they run games ok and software such as steam, which is quite laggy on pc.

Many thanks.

Michael Down.

I have no idea what Steam is. But except for the games, you don't require that much power for your needs so an iMac is perfect. Any of the imac range.

I can play Portal and CounterStrike source no problems with steam on mac. You can also run Bootcamp and run windows natively and get good performance from windows only games.

Yes, it's powerful enough to do all these things, maybe even at the same time =) From what i've read it's not a kick-ass gaming machine, but i'm sure most of the games on Steam will be more than playable.

I also choose between the 3.06 and the 3.20 Ghz. I picked the 3.20, because of the bigger HDD and better graphics, not because the CPU is faster.

I have an iMac with a 3.06 Core 2 Duo and it is very fast. I don't think you'll need more than that for graphic design and every day computing. Not sure about the gaming part though, as I have never tried it.

If you're planning to do quite a bit of steam gaming, I'd probably get the 21.5 inch with 3.2ghz i3 and '5670' (really mobility 5730.)

i3 3.06 or i3 3.2 will most certainly be powerful enough to handle photoshop and flash programs. What is your current processor?

You really buy iMac for it hardware format, shape or style. It will always be limited in running the most complicated of game software. If you want a true gaming computer, look else where.
