For example, in Finder clicking on the button to unmount a drive has no animation. There is no visual indication if your click was successful. You only know it's successful when the drive's name disappears from Finder.

This seems to be working for me? I primarily use dark mode, so when I hover over the eject button, it gets lighter; then turns white when I click it. Light mode has a similar effect. It gets darker when I hover over it, and turns black when I click it. I noticed it was much harder to distinguish between the two shades in light mode though.

I'm using regular light mode. The button goes from grey to black when I hover over it, and if it uses a different shade of black when I click on it I can't tell.

It’s been happening slowly over time with each release

I don’t remember which version removed the spinning animation on the time machine menu bar icon while a backup was in progress.

When removing an icon from the dock got rid of the puffy cloud animation.

I’m sure there are dozens of others.

These were all little things about OS X that made it seem like the developers had fun and a sense of humor. It did more than just work, it was delightful to use.
