Is anyone actually buying MBAs?!

I have seen almost none of these out there I was wondering if Apple were selling many Airs?

Can they be happy with the uptake or will it go down as one of their less successful product launches... Discuss...

Yes, I believe they've been selling well.

They've also shown to be more reliable than previous model launches.

I remember someone on arstechnica mentioning and linking an article about the sale #'s on the notebook lineup and showed that the mba was selling better than every other product (maybe it was for that month or two). I just cant find that exact post right now.

Yeah i think it does pretty well. You always have to realize that most people don't need much more than that, and hell if you have the money, its a great thing to just carry around. I want one for just that reason, unfortunatly i dont have the money for it. Oh well.

I am normally one to drool over new Apple products, and replace my laptop frequently, and I rushed to the Apple store ASAP to experience the MBA first hand, worried that I'd have a credit card 'accident'... But when I saw it I was left thinking it felt flimsy and with its lack of facilities decided that this was not something I 'had' to have, so left the store with my credit card firmly still in my wallet.

I do wonder whether the MBA was really just something to keep the stock market happy, as how could Apple have a Macworld with no show stopping new product? Ooh look, a laptop you can fit in an envelope... BFD!

FWIW they are number 5 on the UK store (MB is 2 and Time Capsule 1).

The cynical amongst us would also note that it it Apple who have control over those sites, and the reported placements

I was just thinking the same thing.

I had been considering the idea of buying one myself over the past few weeks and decided against it since nothing is user replaceable, especially the battery.

I would bet that the MacBook and MacBook Pros are the top selling items in the store in the U.S.

I think the lack of sightings in the wild is due to the fact the target market is not really at the average consumer (either that or it is so thin most people can't see it). From what I understand from the press and tech sites they appear to be selling fairly well.

Interesting to see some international differences. Look at Australia and New Zealand, they are identical and the 23" Cinema display is number 2. Go figure

That said, the projection was for 150,000 units sold, which may be why you don't see one at every Starbucks. Of course, at $2,500 a pop, the MBA generated revenue in excess of $375 million for Apple (not including accessories, etc.). I'd say the launch was a home run for Apple.

I paid $1799 for mine Did you come up with an average of the SSD/HDD model for the $2500? I think the HDD is outselling the SSD's by 4 to 1.

Even at $2000 a pop, it's $300 million. Still nothing to sneeze at...

I am too surprised that I haven't seen more of these, especially since I live in manhattan where everyone seems to carry apple products. Perhaps too many already had the macbook, or maybe I'm hanging out in the wrong coffee shops. anyhow, I've seen maybe 2 (and one was in paris).

you know what - i bet its because everyone is so used to 'seeing' people with ipods and iphones. It could be that there are 5 people next to you right now with a mba in there bag. (like me)
