Everyone has their own "top feature" I'm sure, but I'm surprised that it seems no one is really excited about low power mode.

Granted split screen, and those sorts of features are pretty big and important, but if low power mode actually does what Apple claim it will then that's a pretty big gain in terms of day to day usability. It'll be a few days of testing to see how well it actually works, but it's looking promising so far.

It's nice to see Apple looking at options to have the phone limit it's performance and background processing etc. to the advantage of battery life - it's the one thing (well that and they doubled as a hammer in a pinch) that was always better about non smartphones.

Anyway - interested to hear from anyone else who's trying this feature out.

Personally I'm not excited for this feature but I'm glad you are! :) I will just never sacrifice my precious performance for battery life.

I plan on getting a 6s+ later this year, so battery life won't be a primary concern; it should more than suffice in seeing me through the day. Plus, I already bring a battery pack around with me.

I am more interested in what it does to eke out that extra battery life. If it means disabling everything and turning my iPhone into a glorified iPhone, then no thanks.

It would be great if enabling it at 10% would give 3 hours of use instead of 1, but if it's 3 more hours at 100% then I'm not excited. I would prefer to charge it during the day than having performance issues.

The things that I've noticed so far in terms of performance (note that this is on an iPhone 5, so may not be the same for those of you with new devices).

- Parallax background movement is disabled.
- Auto-Fetch of emails is disabled (As per what Apple say).
- Background update of apps is disabled (again Apple state this).

Beyond that I haven't noticed any reduced performance, etc. Note that this is just my perception, I don't have geekbench so can't give a non-subjective report.

I'm excited, while I don't currently need it most days, there are some days I'm out and about while using my phone constantly and it would be nice to have this mode. Most of what I'm using it for when I'm out is non intensive.

yes! will definitely come in handy when you forgot your charger at home and also forgot to charge the night before.
