Is anyone else not able to import photos from SD cards on iOS 11.1.2?

Having issues. The import tab never shows up in Photos on my 11.1.2 iPhone when I'm trying to import from an SD card using the official dongle (that I bought at the Apple Store). I know it's not the adapter because it works fine on my 11.0 iPad that I refuse to update until Apple gets their act together on bugs.

I didn't update my iPhone 8+ from 11.0 until recently and the SD card reader worked until I did. I'm regretting the update because I'm also having issues with Bluetooth audio, getting it to play, that I never had before the update.
 
I am having a slightly different, but similar problem. I use my SD card reader to read SD cards from trail cameras. Before I upgraded my iPad Mini 4 to iOS 11, the SD card reader worked great. How, sometimes it imports all the pics from a card and sometimes it crashes.

The SD card reader works perfectly on both my iPP 9.7 and iPP 10.5, which are still running iOS 10. I'm scared to upgrade to iOS 11 for fear of losing one of the main things I use my iPads for. I'm trying to decide whether to "sacrifice" the 9.7 and see whether the problem is iOS 11 or the iPad Mini. It stinks that the Mini won't work for the main purpose that I purchased it. Unfortunately, returning it wasn't an option since I didn't have the problem within the 30-day return window.
 
I started with Apple chat, then was handed off to to someone else on chat, who arranged for someone to call me. I started with person #3 on a phone call, then was handed off to person #4, a senior engineer. Every time one of my iPads would barf on the photo import, the screen share thing would die just before it happened. Now it's being escalated. Everyone was very puzzled.

Here's hoping there will be a solution, although it's probably going to take awhile.
 
Just come upon this problem myself. I've been using my old sd to 30 pin adapter with the 30 pin to lightening adapter with my iPad Air 2 for over a year without problems.

I went to import some recent photos yesterday for the first time since updating my iPad to iOS 11 and now it no longer works, just says this accessory is not supported, still works fine on my iOS 10 iPhone 7.

I've also read that others are having this problem even with the new version of this adapter.

Yet another software bug from Apple :(.

I ended up buying the new version and it works fine with my 10.5" iPP on 11.2.6.
