One Macrumors article after another, and it's all about the iPhone 3G. Does anyone seriously care that much about it? Really? I mean it's just a phone. It doesn't cure cancer, grow hair, or tutor your kids in algebra - it's a silly phone. If anyone is losing sleep over a phone, I'd call them severely pathetic. Plus it's an AT&T-only phone which means many people won't be getting one simply because AT&T service sucks in their area.

Get over it people!

This is an Apple site... You can't really expect them not to talk about Apple stuff...

Now I was finding a couple of months ago that there were too many iPhone posts (speculation on carriers and tariffs ALL THE TIME) but it IS close to the release date of the iPhone 3G, so now it's understandable having a lot of hype.

Best to just ignore it.

He has a point.. I mean really, I like the iPhone a lot. I bought one, and will probably upgrade to the new one at some point.. But all the hype has gone out of control. I think Macnn is worse however. It's more like iPhonenn there. I think they forgot Apple is primarily a computer company. And thats what im getting at. I'd rather see more 'Mac' news than endless iPhone news..

Um, yes, people do care about it that much, it is one of Apple's big three products, and it means a lot to people. There is a lot of discussion about it and there should be, just like there was a lot of discussion about the MBA when that was released. If you do not want to read about it on the forums, then add the iPhone forums to your block list in forumspy or the new post search.

Mac Pro Uber Edition

Yes but it IS the latest release from Apple.

I am currently with T-Mobile and do not plan on hacking an iPhone so I don't care a lot about the 3G phone. When the 12G is released for T-Mobile then I will get excited.

Come on now, on a totally serious note, when I have ordered the new Apple Mac Pro Uber Edition with 256 neural net processors, 16TB SSD and the Apple 3-D iHolographic display with virtual tactile input, I will be more exicted about that.

What 'Mac' news would you be talking about? MacRumors covered the rumor about the redesigned MBP case. Is there anything else going on?

When 99% of the news coming from Apple is about MobileMe and the iPhone, that's exactly what you're going to see on Apple rumors and news sites.

I appreciate MacRumors as a place I can go to get major updates quickly, without wading through wads of editorial stories or stories about odd-ball third-party pieces of software. The news is what the news is.

Complaining about iPhone coverage before a launch makes as much sense as complaining about MWSF or WWDC before either of those events.

Well, right now if there were any Mac news, then you would be hearing about it, but there isn't any. The only difference is that the most recent story would be days old, I for one prefer all the iPhone news as there is always something to read about.

The only people who would truly get sick of it are: A. People who can't get an iPhone or B. People who don't want an iPhone. Otherwise, my answer is no.

Oh, and with software development, the iPhone may actually be able to eventually tutor your kids in algebra. :D

And the iPhone may not cure Cancer...but the jury is still out on whether it causes cancer. ;)

I don't want or need an iPhone. But it's not a silly phone - in fact its quite clever - for the first time someone has got people surfing the mobile internet in what seems a cool and easy way.

iPod - good for Apple = good for Mac sales numbers - the so called halo effect.
iPhone - well hopefully you get the picture.

If it helps I heard somewhere they're releasing new Powerbooks tomorrow :)

I think its a bit over the top how some people get over this. But really, if the service plan was more affordable compared to what I have now, I'd def jump on it - just wouldn't wait on line for it.

I'm sick of it, I'm watching the spy, and I have all the iphone forums blocked, but all I see are things about the iphone in the news items.

I have used a lot of phones and I think it is the best. It is really changing the industry and not just a phone. But I am tired of the hype too. I know people that don't even visit Macrumors tell me about the release of the iPhone this summer when it was still rumor.

I conclude the hype is for people that are in the dark and not for the people in the know.

This is a temporary blip in the history of apple. It is being released over this coming weekend you can expect to see a much larger proprotion of posts related to the iPhone over the coming days. There is not really much you can do about that. Just have to put up with it and it will pass and then hopefully mre infor about Snow Leopard and updated computers will return to balance things out a bit.
