Hey is anyone excited about onlive on the iPad? I can't wait for it to be released on the iPad then I can play High end PC games on my iPad. I got a Free year and a free game of my choice. I wonder how long after it gets released this month we have to wait for the App. I hope not long. so whose excited about this? Of course you have to pay a monthly fee plus the price of the game but it's worth it I think. But hey i get it free for the first year :) Here's a Link to the article that talks about it http://blog.laptopmag.com/onlive-steals-show-at-d8-the-next-itunes

Is onlive still even coming out? The whole thing seems very 90's pipe dream to me. I personally like running the game on my own hardware, and how are you going to control anything on the iPad? Playing something like crysis would be next to impossible with only a touch screen.

I thought it was vapourware.

I'd love it to be for real but I suspect the experience will be commonly stymied by connection issues, unless you've got a rock-solid, high speed connection to work off. And I guess it depends on the game. Seems like a good way to play Diablo III, for example...

It's not vaporware because I've seen it running.

However, it does have a pretty silly pricing structure at the moment… When they said you'd pay a monthly subscription and have access to all these games, I didn't know you'd need to then pay for each game as well.

Playing something like crysis would be next to impossible with only a touch screen.

Maybe it would be possible to sync up a Bluetooth controller like the ps3 or wii remotes?

That would be the only way I could see the iPad being able to do console games

Thefact that you have to be within 1000 miles of a data centrer and need a very good broadband connection pretty much destroys it in many parts of the world. Great idea in principal, too many obstacles in practice for this to ever be fully realized to anything other than a minority of people.
