Am I wasting my time in hoping for this? I know iOS 12 has been revealed, and is what it is, but is there a chance they pull some kind of "we believe these sort of features aren't worth it until you have a screen that's at least 6.5" or something?

I'm excited for the giant display, but it'll be a damn shame if we can't do either of these on it while our Android friends with their years old smaller phones are streaming/chatting at the same time.

I'd be surprised if Apple didn't introduce split screen on the 6.5" model as a differentiating factor.

With iOS 11 beta, most of the new interactive elements were hidden until iPhone X was launched.

I wouldn't expect split screen. Apple would have had to tell developers in advance so they could modify their apps.

Split view has been a feature on iPad since iOS 9. Most major apps already support it.
