Is anyone having this issue in LR 5?

I hold down the option key to mask the image in the develop module to adjust the blacks and whites. However as I slide, it seems as if I let go of my option key, and the image goes unmasked and back to normal, which is not the case. This function works fine in Cam Raw 9, where you hold down the option key to see which parts of the images are blown out.

Any ideas if it is a bug in LR 5.7.1 ?

I'm on LRCC/LR6, and the option key in Develop Module is used to (re)set the slider defaults.

When I want to see clipped shadows and blown highlights in Develop, I just toggle the 'J' key.
