iPhone Is anyone not excited about iPhone 6 due to lack of jailbreak?

I'm excited for the announcements, and will be excited to get one, probably even stock too with iOS 8...

But I think I'll keep my Pangu 5 handy for some SIM swapping until iOS 8 jailbreak which I hope isn't long :D

I hated waiting for iOS 6 jailbreak on iPhone 5 release. it was painful, even coming from a backup 3gs. over time at least. once the hardware novelty wore off.

I don't want to be SOL either way :D

and rMini not getting updated until iOS8 jb.

I like that! And, I like your thinking, although I am pleased enough with the 5S to simply keep it without upgrading.
 
This issue is raised each year just before the hardware refresh.

Just like last year, some want the jailbreak over the new hardware.
Just like last year, some want the new hardware over the jailbreak.

And just like last year Apple will be incorporating new features (which originated as hacks/tweaks) into this new iOS being introduced.

And just like last year, there is always a thread or two about it :(

And just like last year, I'll bet we even see a poll about this (sooner than later)

My current contract ends in February next year so I may wait until then to upgrade to the iPhone 6. I'll have to see if I can wait that long though, I don't know. :confused:

My dad wants me to upgrade so I can pass my 5S to my brother. I wasn't all that excited, but I guess I have to be now.

I am thinking that iOS 8 will bring some super weird new tweaks in six months time. Like someone will incorporate the new Notification Center widgets into the lock screen, and they'll make the overall experience of them much better.

I just want the new multitasking features to be ported over to the iPad Mini if it doesn't get it alongside the iPad. It's very nice docking Messages next to Safari, especially since I have the external keyboard. :D

I know, but I want your guys' input since 4 to 4s wasn't tempting without jailbreak, 5 to 5s wasn't either I didn't even get a 5s.

iphone 6 really might be the highest anticipated iPhone ever, except for 4. 5 has been nice, and still enjoying the heck out of it, but it's another 0.5"

I'm ready for something new looking all together finally.
 
I will probably ditch my JB for iOS 8. That version of iOS seems to be more compelling to me and I can't wait to get off this trainwreck of iOS 7.

That would make my iPhone 5 running iOS 8 for a while. When we get T-Mobile phones and port over to T-Mobile, hopefully we can get iOS 6. Wait and see.

As it stands right now, JB or not, I am not happy with 7.1.2.

What in particular?

I wouldn't hedge any bets on it being much more than 7.2, building on what's already in iOS 7

In general, everything about the UI seems "bigger". Things are not as compact as they are in iOS 6. I can scale text size down and that helps, but everything seems to be constructed a bit looser. Maybe Apple was going for "airy" or something. That's my overall impression.

Some stuff is not intuitive either. I'll take the Reminders app as an example. Want to add a Reminder? Scroll to the bottom and press on a blank spot. Edit a reminder, press on the reminder. Yet, there's still a giant Edit button (but no "New" button) in the top right.

I've managed to do away with about 99% of my unicorn puke color issues by using Eclipse, but the flatness I can't do too much about. I'm ok with flat, but I shouldn't have to consult Google or a manual to figure out where I need to press to do "X".

As to iOS 8, I realize that's building off of iOS 7. But, generally, in the past Apple has done a better job with subsequent versions of OS (both OS X and iOS). I expect iOS 8 to have tightened things up a bit. And in any case, since I am on iOS 7 now any improvement, however small it may be, is appreciated.
 
Maybe I'll jailbreak my iPhone 4 after I get the iPhone 6, but I personally have not been compelled to jailbreak since I had my iPhone 3G.
 
It's hard to pass up Jailbroken 5S with unlimited data and mywi for iPhone 6.... I'll probably stick it out until the JB comes out for the 6.

See, I feel the same way. It's why I use Lato Light for my system font. The default iOS 7 one just feels weird on the retina display. On my non-retina iPad Mini, it's not as bad.

I don't know what the heck they were thinking when they redid the Reminders app either.

I'm in the same boat. Don't need tether that often, but it sure it nice in a pinch.
 
I wouldn't be able to get my hands on it until the price drops so couldn't give a damn about it.
 
Any idea if they'll let me upgrade to the 6 without some dumb fee if I preorder now?
I ordered my iPhone 5 on September 14.

The problem is, unless I've missed something, nothing I've seen in screenshots of iOS 8 changes either the Hello Kitty on crack color scheme or the disadvantages of the very flat to the point of overkill UI. And Apple clearly isn't interested in adding a dark mode with--dare I say it?--grownup colors for those of us who aren't 10 year old girls anymore (and for those who never were!) So to give up the jailbreak and move to 8 means trying to live with that nausea-inducing excuse of a UI...and that's just the visuals. Even a shiny new phone with a bigger screen won't compensate for having to put up with that; bad enough the UI is functionally inadequate in so many places. At least jailbroken, I don't have to look at its decorative shortcomings and can improve some of the functionality.

If you're the type who either doesn't care what it looks like or likes the current UI, I can maybe see upgrading right away. Me, I made it just over 1 day on a stock phone when I finally updated to 7.1.2 from 6 this week. I'll buy the new one when there's a jailbreak for it, but no sooner...as usual! LOL

(And that's setting aside iBlacklist, FolderEnhancer, and MultiIconMover+, and Gesture Music Controls...tweaks Apple hasn't replaced yet that I can't do without even if I force myself to endure the My Little Pony color scheme. The first spam call I got yesterday without iBlacklist installed yet drove me straight to Cydia to redownload it. I shouldn't have to add a telemarketer to my Contacts to block them; that's just seriously backward.)
 
going back to vanilla iOS sucks but it makes going back to a jailbreak feel like another christmas. Last year it even came out around christmas!:D
