My current iPad Pro (10.5) is now 3 years old and I am wanting to upgrade to a bigger iPad Pro but am holding off just in case Apple is due to release a newer version shortly. Has anybody heard about a newer version being released and when abouts that might be please?

The latest rumor from Jon Prosser says Apple will be announcing the next iPad (the $329 consumer model) and Apple Watch series 6 via press release the week of September 7. Considering the Pro models just came out five or so months ago, I‘m not sure any new ones will be out anytime soon and I haven’t heard any recent rumors regarding it.

iPad releases are not as consistent as iPhones, especially with so many different models that are all one their own cycles. I would guess that a new baseline model will be released this fall. Maybe a new Air and/or Mini by the end of the year, but maybe not. Both the Air and Mini had gone years without an update until 2019. They could go years again. The baseline (budget) model seems to be the only one that gets updated every single year now.

They just updated the Pro line earlier this year, so I doubt there would be any updates before Spring of 2021. Apple tends to update iPads about every 12-18 months, and the next iPad to be updated would be the standard iPad, since it is almost a year old at this point.

If there was to be any iPad update coming this year, looking at it logically I would guess at an updated base model with no external upgrades, just a spec bump.
The Pro has been updated this year already and I doubt we will see another for a while.
I also wouldn’t rely too much on the fact that Prosser has supposedly leaked announcement dates as I’m not convinced he actually knows any more than anyone else. His track record is too spotty to trust him as far as I’m concerned.

I could have sworn i read somewhere they might put out a Ipad Air 4 that has a simular look to the current pros! It makes sense to do it now as A im rocking a 10.5 Air 3 that came out last march (2019) and September of 2020 is 18 months since release.

I believe the iPad 8th Generation will be released in September/October and will remain identical to the iPad 7th with the exception of an A12 chip. I don’t see a new Air, Mini or Pro released in 2020, but staggered across Q2 and Q3 of next year. I’m no Prosser or Ming Chi Kuo, but I would bet on that release timeline.
