I admit I rarely use the App store. Perhaps this post is an eye roll for those who do.
Lately I have been trying to purchase apps that I want to use. For example, I decided to try the Youtube app, instead of the website.
So I typed in "Youtube" in the search engine. Not one of the first 20 hits were Youtube. There were countless apps with one or two reviews, that offer to augment my Youtube experience.
To be clear, this is an artificial example. I have tried to find apps from ethical vendors for a number of services and each time I was introduced to a long list of trolls posing as the source I wanted.
Does anyone curate the user experience on the App Store? These apps are obviously designed to capture my viewing experience for nefarious purposes.
I was deluded into thinking Apple's focus is privacy. Silly me. With all their posturing about the benefits of the Apple Store, and the money returned to developers I would expect adult supervision over their search engine.

So there is not a Mac application for YouTube so that’s why it doesn’t show up.

There is a YouTube app for iPhone and iPads though and searching for YouTube appears as number one in the App Store.

A big problem was a lawsuit of sorts (maybe threat of a lawsuit I forget) a bit ago where ****** app developers were mad their ******** wasn't getting featured so they tried to claim Apple had a monopoly, so things were changed. This is why even when you search for Apple created apps other suggestions pop up. It's annoying as hell.
