Hey everyone,

I recently got a family Apple Music subscription this past weekend. I have had nothing but trouble since starting my subscription. I turned on iCloud Music Library and had it upload my music library. It was roughly 17,000 tracks.

Since this has happened. It erased all my ratings, my loved tracks, which I had set up as smart playlists. So I had to restore to my old library, export my favourites lists and reimport to my newly synced iCloud library to rate my songs as loved again.

I completed this, all good.

Then multiple songs that have been synced are missing album artwork on my iPhone when it is present on my iTunes library. Then I went through all the "uploaded" iCloud status songs and re-added their artwork and did a library update (2500 tracks).

No fix...

I then tried to delete my music library from my iPhone and re-download from the iCloud library. Artwork still missing.

Finally, many songs on my iPhone are playing at random lengths and then skipping. So, 30 seconds... skip... 1:35 then skip. It will not play the entire song, however they play fine on my iTunes library on my MacBook.

Also, I had added some Apply Music to my library. At times when I open iTunes it says "This item was not added to your iCloud Music Library because an error occurred" and all the music I've added from Apple Music has an error under the iCloud icon.

What I am asking, are these common issues with this service? This makes me want to cancel and go back to my library backup I made before getting into this mess!

Thanks for any tips and comments.

You're not alone! I can't help I'm afraid so this is just a commentary. I love Apple, BUT they've been seriously screwing up on all music related services for past 3 years. iTunes is the most user unfriendly thing on the planet and a total mess. I abandoned altogether. Spotify all the way for me.

Apple Music will try to match songs & there's no guarantee it will match the right song. The best way to begin Apple Music is on a blank library then add your music into it album by album (this way you can choose what album match yours). Don't let it match your songs automatically.
Suck for anyone who has 10,000 tracks but that is the best way.
Or you can start using it Spotify-way by just start from scratch & forget about your own library.

But if you do it right it will reward you. You will be able to add songs, albums & artists that AM in your country doesn't have, like I add my mother's favourite Chinese artist that no way US AM will have, so you will have your own music with you anytime PLUS all the songs in AM.

Btw, I pity anyone who's using Spotify on their iOS devices. Just go to twitter & search "spotify iPhone X". Oh.. and have fun listening to Spotify on Apple Watch...

How is this an acceptable option for Apple to offer a broken service and expect us to pay money to use it? My main issue isn't songs being matched wrong, it is the fact that songs that were not matched and were uploaded, are now not playing the complete song and Apple doesn't offer a way to re-upload or even acknowledge there is a problem!

Never have this problem. All of them are playing fine (as you can see from photo I posted) & complete so can’t comment.
In fact, they’s not only uploaded & play fine. All the tags are also correct, whether it is the name of the albums/songs in strange language, cover photo, year of release etc.

Apple destroyed my music 3749 song, years and years of collecting. There is an XML File in the music library, (Library-32078 11-21-16.xml) if you loose that --- you loose or corrupt all your purchased music! Long story short, after four major corruptions and loss of songs, lyrics and artwork. I moved over to Amazon Music, Uploaded my library library an now use them. YMMV.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I did experience the same thing with Apple Music & iTunes Match as well. Worst some of my albums got its cover art changed because of the service. Totally unacceptable. I don't like anyone to come and just change my cover art :-/

Yeah. I agree. It is very frustrating as I have meticulously curated my library over at least ten years. Now my album art is being randomly replaced etc. I have converted all my “uploaded” tracks to AAC and they no longer skip when being played and some have even matched after the conversion. However, some albums, 9 out of 10 songs will be matched with one having to be uploaded. Then the matched songs have an incorrect artwork and the one uploaded is correct. My incorrect art has albums from random mix CDs. It’s very strange especially with well known artists.

Also, I still have no found a fix for some uploaded tracks that have blank artwork on my phone, but artwork embedded into the file.

I am just hoping the service improves as I love the ability of adding Apple Music to my library. I just have to turn off my OCD when it comes to my artwork.
