Since installing iPadOS 13.1 on my wife's 12.9" iPad Pro, the system keeps insisting she completes the setup by activating Apple Pay.

Even if my wife wanted to use Apple Pay (which she doesn't) I'm struggling with the practicality of waving a 12.9" iPad at a store checkout or in a restaurant.

I can understand the benefit of Apply Pay on an iPhone, but I'm struggling with the concept on an iPad (with the possible exception of the iPad mini).

Perhaps I'm missing something really obvious here and I'm about to feel really silly when someone points something obvious that I've missed!

In the meantime, I'm looking for a way to stop iPadOS and iOS insisting that the system setup is not yet complete because Apple Pay has not yet been completed. Any ideas?

Did you try to open the "complete setup" option once from within the settings app, and then say "later" there? It has removed the red "1" notification badge and reminders for me, and did not ask again anymore.

Many thanks - selecting "Set up later in Wallet" has done the trick!

Yeah it's meant for online shopping not for using in-person. The iPad Mini might be the largest device I can see being used, lol.

It means you can use it online. I don’t think they’re expecting you to wave iPads around.
No one expects that, and you are correct. Apple Pay on iPad is to be used only for online purchases made on websites or in-apps.

Well no one has ever thought of tapping with an iPad at a store. Apple Pay on iPad is only for online purchases made on websites or in apps, but not for in-store transactions. For in-store purchases you do need an iphone or apple watch.
