I'd been planning on getting one of the new iMacs as soon as they came out, but when I found out they were only going to include pathetic gpus I gave up. So instead of waiting for the next roll around, I'm gonna muster up a little more cash for the mbp 2.4 with the 256mb 8600M GT. I'm going to be stuck with whatever I buy at college across the country, so I really want it to be able to play games well (mostly just WoW and CS:S in bootcamp).

Now I'd walk to the apple store right down the street from my office and buy one today except I'm concerned about all the complaints I've heard about horrible screen issues (yellowing, darkening, etc.) Are these problems persisting in the mbps for sale at the moment or was that just a particular bad batch? I don't want to have to do multiple trips to the apple store in order to get the functioning mbp that I pay for.

Sorry if I'm out of the loop, but thanks for any advice.

Not sure how the iMac GPU's compare to the MBP's mobile one - I'm sure comparisons will appear soon.

All the screen problems, and the flammable chargers(lol) are all a thing of the passed, if you notice on the forums, nobody is talking any of that anymore, so yeah... it was just a bad batch, have fun with your new MBP!

Good point, I'll probably wait til those benchmark comparisons come out. I know that the 8600 GT is considerably better than the 2600 PRO, but I forgot that the iMac gpu is a desktop variety while the mbp sports a mobile card. We'll see if the nVidia edge is still so sharp when somebody runs a comparison of the mobile nVidia vs. desktop ATI. Please somebody let me know if they see such a test!
