I searched over the internet; and couldn't find any thread discussing whether the New Zealand Apple warranty is 12 or 24 months. Hopefully this information helps anyone claiming faulty products in NZ.

Currently in New Zealand, most retailers state that iPhone comes with a 24 Month Manufacturer Warranty on their websites; however Apple's documentation only states a 12 month Apple Limited Warranty. Retailers like Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman and PB Tech all show 24 months, which is confusing...

So I asked a senior agent at Apple Support Australia who confirmed that:
  1. iPhone 11 are covered for 12 months Limited Warranty.
  2. Then in addition to this, New Zealand consumer law means manufactures must ensure the product lasts "A reasonable period from date of delivery until the failure becomes apparent." Apple has considered this to be a minimum of 2 years or 24 months from purchase.
  3. If the user moves overseas to a country with weaker consumer law; the warranty will only be 12 months.
Apple says they will rectify any defects within 24 months usually with "no questions asked." Hopefully this reduces the amount of effort/threatening we usually have to go through to get cover under CGA.
