Is AppleCare+ renewable on AirPods Pro?

I have paid in full/upfront AppleCare+ (AC+) coverage on my AirPods Pro as well as my Apple Watch. Both plans have less than 6 months of coverage remaining of the two years of AC+ coverage. At the expiration of these plans, I’d like to continue with the AC+ coverage if at all possible. If I recall correctly, a couple of years ago, Apple made the decision to allow owners of certain Apple products with paid in full/upfront AC+ coverage to continue their coverage on a month to month basis at the expiration date of the initial coverage. Is this correct, and if so, is Apple still allowing this? Is it limited to only certain “higher price” items such as iPads and iPhones or is this possible on Airpods, Apple Watches, and other “less expensive” Apple products? Also, how does one go about renewing their AppleCare+ coverage on these items? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately Apple doesn’t offer perpetual AppleCare+ on any of their AirPods, even when purchasing new. I believe the same goes for the HomePods (both the original and mini.)

That is what I am seeing as well. My AirPods Pro Applecare+ just ended and it is not allowing me to renew, says it is not eligible.

I have Apple Care plus on both my AirPods Pro 2 and Airpods max. Whilst I don’t expect to keep my AirPods Pro beyond 2 years, I would have liked the option to extend it on my Airpods maX. For £549 I want more than two years out of them.

AirPods and Apple care warranties. After Apple care 2 year warranty runs out. YES YOU CAN CARRY THE WARRANTY ON A MONTH TO MONTH, indefinitely until you don’t own them anymore.

Can your offer some proof of this? I was advised by Apple that AppleCare+ is not renewable (even on a month to month basis) on AirPods.

I have spoken to 2 Apple different customer service advisors over the phone about this and all Apple devices you initially paid for Apple care warranty can be extended after the extended warranty period expires via a month to month fee. This is based after September 2022 for residents of NORTH AMERICA.

Apple will renew plans only for iPhone, iPad, Watch, and Mac and only in certain countries. HT210580 explains it. I don’t doubt you were TOLD they’d renew something else - but they won’t.

These are the steps to renew any Apple product that you initially paid for Apple care plus warranty. After the initial 2 year period expires you have 30 days to renew via this link, outside of the 30 days your SOL.

Well, good luck with that. Here in the real world - you can BUY AppleCare+ using that site, on various products for a period of time after purchase. You can RENEW only on iPhone, iPad, Watch, and Mac as shown in the article I posted.

The deciding factor, for anyone who’s interested, is that there has to be an automatically renewable payment option for AppleCare+. For example, on an iPhone or iPad or Watch, the renewal is on a monthly basis; for a Mac it’s on an annual basis. You can start with the 2-year or 3-year plan, but at renewal time you can’t renew for another 2 or 3 years; you set up a monthly or annual plan. As the article states, “Your plan coverage may continue beyond 24 or 36 months, on a monthly or annual basis, until canceled.”

AirPods (the original item asked about) don’t have an auto-renew option. They have only the 2 year program. Same with Apple TV or HomePod. Apple will not sell you an additional 2 years after the expiration of the first program. They might in the future - but today they won’t.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210580 has all the info you need. You cannot extend AirPods, HomePods, and Apple TV as of then as of now or as of two years ago. They used to only have it for a couple countries and also only iPhone, iPad, and Watch. I actually went to their apple.com/feedback and said please add the option for Macs as well. A while later they finally did. I don’t know if it had anything to do with me.

If you want to see it through time find some kind of web archive site and you’ll see it didn’t always have all the current options.

The point is this other user is wrong no matter what they think they heard or were told.
