My 5,1 has all the horsepower and a 192khz/24b audio interface hooked to it constantly. And I just got a really nice upgrade to my studio speakers. Please tell me there’s a workaround to be able to use Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless playback other than upgrading to Big Sur. Web app? Hacked install of newer Music app? Seems like a waste of a perfectly powerful pro-level computer to not be able to play hifi streams.

This crew is working on it. Not sure if it’s there yet but compile the dev builds from GitHub for the latest features.

Are you also eicca on the MTBR forums?

thanks, this is an interesting software tool/option… I wonder if it would indeed be able to bring the latest Apple Music functions into an older macOS that does not support them. That would be lovely. I don’t personally need it, but many users could benefit from that!

Sounds like it’s close. They’re waiting on Apple to allow lossless playback through the API.

Mac version needs a few bugs fixed too. But so far it does Apple Music waaaay better than iTunes.

Nice. Well, I hope they succeed. It makes me wonder to what extent Apple would support (i.e. allow) such third-party use of their Music service in the longish term. I can see benefits for them by allowing this on other platforms, even though they already provide a (buggy-terrible) option for Windows, and they also offer the web-based Apple Music option that works cross-platform too, no? I recall early on Spotify allowing multiple third-party apps use of their API, and then slowly over time each one of those was killed.
