Boot Camp is only unsafe if you don't know what you're doing. And, as a beta product, no, Apple won't help if it messes up. Once it's part of Leopard (and you HAVE Leopard), they will help.

In short: if you're not reasonably technically literate and/or don't have basic Windows installation knowledge, DON'T USE BOOTCAMP. Yet.

i installed bootcamp on sunday night with windows xp profressional. seemed pretty straightforward.Only problem i had was when i installed the mac os driver disc in windows.rebooted and windows said pci.sys was missing but i found the file in system 32 and put it in the drivers file. (in os x as the bootcamp volume mounts on your desktop) rebooted and it worked. so helped to have a little knowledge of computers.

as long as you're not doing anything exotic (eg: BIOS simulation etc) Bootcamp should be pretty safe. keep in mind it's still beta though, so if you screw up, you're screwed big time ;)
I say: if you don't need it just yet, wait till it's final version.

I say, back up first and you'll be fine :)
