I read that buzz player lets you stream from a nas with the pc off

Also supports AirPlay

With air video app .a program needs to be running on the pc

From reading the above buzz player seems better but I wanna be sure it all works as good as air video before I buy it for $5

Anybody here have buzz player & can vouch for it ?

This will do until the jailbreak of atv3 comes out

Not necessarily. It relies on AirVideo server to serve transcoded content to be airplayed so it will have the same limitations as airplayer.

Maybe mirroring with buzzplayer itself so it doesn't transcode the video, as buzz player can play many formats natively, but I am not sure how well that will work.

Now, if you like the BuzzPlayer interface better than the AirPlayer client, go for it, otherwise I would stick with AirPlayer.

Yes, it is.

I have Buzz Player on the iPad, and can confirm that it will stream and download video from a Humax HDR-FOX T2 (in Standard Def) and from a USB hard drive connected to an Airport Extreme router without any other computers needing to be running. I haven't yet found a way to download from BBC iplayer, but it looks like it should download most video from t'interweb. When I have time at the day job I'll see if it will work with broadcast video servers such as Avid Airspeed and Geevs.
