Pretty straight-forward question here. I'm just wondering what all of you think regarding whether Catalina has reached the caliber of Mojave with its latest updates. Is 10.15.7 as stable and offering as good performance as 10.14.6? I'm well aware of the problems with Catalina early on and have heard it likened to Windows Vista quite a bit on this forum. Personally, I think that may just be a fair characterization given that it had quite the rocky start but has seemed to gain the stability that was once expected of macOS. However, I've also seen many folks who feel passionate that Catalina will never be as good as Mojave no matter what Apple can do with updates to the software. So what do you think? Is it as good as Mojave in terms of performance and battery life or has Apple abandoned Catalina and moved on to Big Sur for good?

I started using Catalina in June when it was pre-loaded on my new Mini. No problems at all. I assume you are aware, however, that there is no iTunes in Catalina and you will not be able to use any old 32-bit apps?

Neither of these is an issue for me, I have a separate Mini running Mojave that I use as an iTunes server. The only annoyance is that the TV app on Catalina does not work properly with video playlists on home sharing. I run Mountain Lion and Sierra virtual machines with Parallels for all my old (expensive!) 32-bit apps.

Have you looked at this app.
It's a possible option for those who can't live without iTunes etc.

No, have not looked, don't need it. I will keep my iTunes server on Mojave and can access it from my Apple TV's, Macs, iPad and phone. But that is certainly worth a look for those who need it, there are some threads about it here somewhere.
