Hello Everyone,

I currently have a 5,1 Mac (12 core 3.46 with RX 580) and I am running the latest supported OS (Mojave 10.14.6) and I am an app developer. I recently did a fresh reinstall and today when I tried to install Xcode, I got an error “Xcode can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because MacOS Version 10.15.4 or later is required”.

I know I could install Catalina using a couple different methods.

So, my questions.

Are we allowed by Apple to Install Catalina on these systems, or does it fall under the same rules as Hackintoshes?

I do use a iCloud account with is the same as my appid, I bought a lot of software, movies, music, etc. Would my account be at risk of being disabled or deleted?

Keep in mind, I use Xcode to compile, and submit my apps to the appstore. There is a signing process, and I’m not sure if apple checks serial numbers or anything like that when doing so.

I thought we would have had another year but guess not. Might have to sell this system and “upgrade”. gah.

Anyway, thanks in advanced.

Why not just install an older version of Xcode? Do you rely on some feature of the newest version?

The only thing you need to install Catalina is to add cMP5,1 and it's board-id to the platform.plist. That is:
You can install Catalina from a supported platform use Atom to edit the platform.plist and you can boot that drive in cMP.

Do you recommend? I thought of adding an additional boot volume w/ Catalina for a dual configuration. Mojave for iTunes, Catalina for newer video support such as Apple TV.
