If not, how else can I download it online.. Steam?

Thanks for the quick responses. Why steam over the mac app store?

----------

Also, this may seem silly but with Starcraft 2 it's an issue. Do you need to be connected to the Internet to play?

steam has sales, and if the game is available on both platforms you usually get both copies so if you ever want to play under windows its not a problem etc. i just prefer their service for games.

as for SC2, you do need an internet connection, but it is possible to play the single player without one: http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/starcraft-ii-system-requirements

check out the System Requirement FAQ for more info.

With the Steam version. Not sure with the App Store version. I would go with Steam hands down regardless of internet connectivity. Yeah its a neg but in-game web browser throughout all games, steam cloud sync, achievements...

So even after installing the game with Internet and everything, I have to be connected to the Internet every time I wan to play?

now steam doesn't work. I downloaded it but when I try to open the application nothing pops up. A very small vertical line shows up in the middle of my screen but that's it. Ideas?

Screenshot? Did you drag steam to the Apps folder? (i.e not running off the disk image.)

Other reasons for getting the Steam version, BTW:

-Far cheaper during the summer sale going on now. There will most likely be a daily deal in which you'll be able to snag it for <$10.
-You will get the PC version, too, if you should ever want it.
-The MAS version has only LAN for multiplayer (no internet.)

Steam has an offline mode, so internet connectivity is not required.

Got steam up and running and downloading Civ 5 now. Will update on progress when I can actually get the game running. Not sure what the problem with Steam was last night when it wouldn't open but it opened straight away this morning with no major problems (slight network connection issues but I'm in a cafe so it's not a huge deal). Thanks for the help so far!

I've got everything up and running but when I turn off the internet it won't let me play. It says go in offline mode but then it says that this action won't work in offline mode. So, can you play Civ 5 offline or not?

I've figured it all out. Apparently you need to be online when you go into offline mode and then you're set. Thanks for all the help.
