I have seen multiple threads from different forums claiming that it can potentially be more harm than good. I have been using it mainly to keep an eye on my computer temp and the RAM, one of the things that I saw in these threads was that flushing RAM and freeing it up on macOS was actually not very helpful due to how optimized it is. Is any of this true?

Yup.

Just makes people overly concerned with things they don't understand.

Let the computer work itself out, it probably knows more.

Is “flushing RAM” actually a feature of this or are they talking about storage space? Either way, I wouldn’t recommend it.

iStatMenus is an option for things like temperature monitoring

Yeah, although it's not actually called "flushing RAM" on the program, that's basically what it's doing. it clears over double the amount of RAM I would normally get back from just clearing my caches.
