So just last Wednesday I got the new 21.5" iMac:
  • 3.1GHz i7
  • Fusion Drive
  • 16GB RAM
  • GeForce 650M 512MB

Firstly, because of the disc drive not existing, I had to figure out how to get a digital copy of Production Premium CS5.5 (Adobe doesn't list older versions - Adobe is starting to annoy me...) and once I finally found a trial download, I tried at least 5 times before moving from Chrome to Safari to download it...it worked and all and I just had to enter my key.

From the times I've been trying it, it [Premiere Pro/After Effects] just keeps crashing over the smallest of things. It's getting really irritating. I might click a pane to deselect and suddenly, crash. Or, I think in some instances, I click save, and it crashes...wut?! Something that always crashed (And has pushed me to making this post) was doing a 3D track using the CameraTracker plugin in After Effects, once the track has done, you click anywhere, crash.

I can't work with this, but after buying the iMac, I can't afford CS6 (I'm a student, so I'll be able to get that on a discount though). I was thinking I could wait until CS6.5 comes out, but I can't wait until the middle of next year for that. This crashing is just awful >_<

Is this common with CS5.5 and Mountain Lion?

Have you try to reinstall it. I am using CS5.5 Production premium on mountain lion on my mac pro and have not encounter problem with it. Maybe reinstalling should fix the problem.

I forgot to mention which applications I was experiencing problems with.

Just added them now.

Photoshop appears to work perfectly fine.

I'm assuming/hoping it's just something to do with it being newer hardware and it needs a patch.

Knowing Adobe, though, they probably won't release a patch...I only just recently noticed how little attention they give to older versions of CS once the new one is out.

They discovered you could get a virus through Photoshop, and at first they were like "To fix it, you just need to upgrade to CS6!", until the Internet went mad and they agreed to update CS5 with a patch.

I think I'll see what other people think on other forums.
