So those who paid for expedited shipping, did you get your mac in the 2-3 day period?

I ordered mine when the store went up last Wednesday (10/20). The computer ended up shipping on Friday with an expected delivery of 10/27 (tomorrow). But it looks like the computer will already be arriving today since it's on the Fedex delivery truck.

It technically came within the 2-3 day shipping window, but I'm not so sure that it would have taken much longer without the expedited shipping. Every day counts though;)

I ordered on Oct. 20 a few minutes after launch with upgraded shipping. At first blush, I thought I was ripped off since they all made it to Alaska at the same time. However, from there it was on the first plane out (others were not) and was just delivered to my house. Is it worth it? I suppose.

People just spent from $1000 to over $1500. I can't believe they haggle over another $13 for shipping. Even a day earlier is worth $13 ;)

$13 is well worth it for getting it up to 3-5 days earlier. I paid $67 shipping to have a Mac Pro shipped to my office overnight, and it got here within 23 hours. The $13 shipping fee for expedited shipping is practically nothing, and I think it's worth the couple extra bucks to get it instead of prolonging the wait and suffering ;)

That's pretty much how I felt.

FWIW, I ordered noon 10/20 and received it 9:30 this morning 10/26. Given that there was a weekend in between and it shipped direct from China, I can't complain.

Of course I'm not sure when people who didn't pay for expedited shipping are getting theirs, it might not be much different if a whole batch came from China at once.

I always order BTO / CTO with expedited shipping. Sometimes the difference is significant, other times it's not. It just depends on when it comes out of the manufacturing facility and if they have a full load of pallets ready to ship. Overall it's worth every penny. Apples fee is very reasonable.

Was this a self-configured version or a standard (stock)? it takes longer if you do not select a default?

I went for standard shipping, and my BTO arrived today. I don't think it can have arrived any earlier if I paid the extra $13.

I ordered a BTO 13" the day it was announced (last Wednesday). I specified expedited shipping. It shipped from Shanghai Friday. It arrived 9:30AM PST this morning (Tuesday).

Sounds like shadyInCA had a similar experience with standard shipping.

Update: I just checked a second ago, and my 11.6" MacBook Air that I ordered Saturday is now "Prepared for Shipment." This is a CTO MacBook Air with 1.6GHz and 4GB of RAM...so by later today or this evening, it should be on it's way!!

CTO ordered 10/22 w/ "expedited" shipping. Shipped 10/25. Arrived in Virginia today. Can't really complain about that.

Update: My MBA is "shipped" now as of about 10:00am this morning CDT It's been dropped off at the local FedEx facility in Shanghai, and has not left on the airplane yet for Alaska. Scheduled delivery estimate is Monday, November 1st by 10:30am. That would make the total wait time 9 days from order to delivery, and I ordered the 2-3 day delivery. Guess I will just have to wait.
