I just ordered a custom 24" iMac from Apple (2.33GHz, 2GB ram, 7600GT) and i wanted to know if F.E.A.R. would be playable on it in Windows

Anyone have any experience with this?

Why wouldn't it be?

I have read some things that said the 7600 is a weak graphics card for gaming, and i know F.E.A.R. probably requires top of the line stuff.

Looking at the 7600GT specs it looks to be quite a bit faster than the X800 Pro which was one of last years uber fast cards (I had it in my PC). Thus I'd expect the 7600GT to be a pretty darn good card. Might not be the best of the best, but you won't need that. Of course, there'll be very few cards going around that'll do lots of detail at 1900x1200.

I should have stated i'm not really into 3D gaming at all, i don't know much about it. But since i ordered my iMac my friend asked me if it could play those games...and i simply didn't know.

Yes... absolutely... there isn't a single game on the market that won't be playable and look nice on that machine at 1920x1200...

The only thing I'd caveat is you might not be able to enable FSAA... however, at 1920x1200 my personal eyes like 1920x1200 with 0x or 2x FSAA better than say, 1024x768 at 8x or 16x FSAA.

So... tell him most absolutely YES... just perhaps not with all goodies on high AND FSAA etc etc etc.

It will be great, however.

No it's not really. Pretty much the best mid-level card there is for now (which will be what, 3 more months lol). Anyways, I play FEAR on my 24" no prob. It has a ton of graphic options so you can get decent fps. But it is a taxing game - HL2 or Quake IV run really good...

Yea it doesn't run as well as HL2 (which can run on my 24" at 1920x1200 w/ 4x AA and everything cranked at 40-60fps), but its still very playable. AA kills it pretty much, but with some light tweaking you can get it running well. FEAR Combat is also AMAZING....
