I have a Fuji Finepix S5000. My dad got it without much research. I like it, but some people say that Fuji lens shoot with alot of noise. I would recommend a Canon or Nikon, there great companies.

However I don't see anything wrong with FujiFilm.

If you're getting a basic P&S camera, then Fuji are pretty good. They've got some interesting Super CCD sensors which really cut down the noise. The F10/11/30 show this well.

Have a look at the cameras which are in your price range and then go to dpreview.com and read the reviews of them and compare the sample images.
