Well I've had a note 4 for about 6 months now. Currently eyeing up the s6 where the second user prices are coming down like lead balloons :)
I'm the type that loves changing phones every 6 months to a year so wondered, is the s6 an upgrade or downgrade? Is the screen size the major difference and did anyone feel the downsize in screen size a downgrade if they went the same path?

Why not wait four more months for the Note 5? The S6 is so very similar to the Note 4 that it wouldn't be worth the swap unless you hate having a big screen & S Pen.

They are too different to compare. One is a phablet with phablets features. The other is not but offers features in its own right.
Personally i found the S6 to be the fastest most responsive phone i have ever used. The camera is top notch and better than the N4.
Battery life on the N4 is better....it should be it is a bigger phone with a bigger battery. Then there is the S-Pen...the S6 cannot touch that feature. It really comes down to what you want to do. The bigger screen is very handy to read and browse the forums and blogs. But then the S6 is small enough to use one handed. So it really comes down use cases.

The S6 is a better device based on these features: screen pixel density, fingerprint scanner, Samsung Pay MST, camera, software, processor, and RAM. The Note 4 has the S-Pen, better battery life, and a larger screen.

Depends on what you prefer. I got the S6 Edge over the Note 4. But I am thinking about moving to the iPhone 6+ as a daily driver.

The S6 Edge was an upgrade for me. Not sure if it's the edge screen, ppi, or both ...but the screen is noticeably more crisp than the Note 4. The camera is one of the best on a smartphone. Touch fingerprint sensor much more convenient than sliding. The size of the S6 is more manageable. Touchwiz on the S6 is better compared to TW lollipop on the Note 4.

What I lost from the Note 4 is the battery life, mirco sd slot, and the S-pen. Battery life is pretty good so far on the S6, but not as good as it was on the Note 4. The micro sd and S-pen are minor loses and the S6 makes up for it with improved hardware and software.

A far as larger vs a smaller screen goes. I barely notice the differ when viewing, that's how good the S6 screen is.

For me it was. I do not miss my Note 4 overall. I prefer the S6

For me it was the opposite. I used the S6 as my daily driver for about a month, but missed my Note 4 too much, and switch back a couple weeks ago. Haven't missed the S6 yet.

The form factor and features will be what determines if you should "upgrade" or not. I will say the screen on the S6 is slightly better, performance is a bit better, its definitely faster, and the camera is a little better too. And the finger print sensor is worlds better.

The software is also better, 2 things I miss from that version of touchwiz when compared to my note is themes and the flashlight toggle in the notifications panel, but that's about it. I'm hoping that with 5.1.1 it gets those features, however I'm sure I would have already moved on to the Note 5 by the time the update comes out.

In some ways its an upgrade and in some it's a downgrade. To be completely honest i'd wait for the note 5

I think it is an upgrade. It has a better speaker, screen, fingerprint sensor, and newer TW version. I got the S6 Edge when it came out, used it for a week then sold it. It is a very nice phone but went back to my Note 4 because of the screen size.

I say wait for the Note 5. Honestly, I might upgrade just for the improved camera and fingerprint sensor alone. When I bought my Note 4 (I buy outright) I said I was done upgrading every year. But now I'm getting that itch to upgrade a year later one more time.

I've been playing around with the s6 at the local store and most of it looks the same. Whilst it's great to hold I think I'd miss the slightly larger note 4 screen.

One of my biggest gripes with the n4 is the speaker position. I often have the radio on and the speaker at the back means have to have the phone face down for any decent sound out of the speaker at all

Overall both excellent phones. Will probably stick with the n4. Not too sure about the n5, May go with the next iPhone. I'm too much of a fiddler to stick with one phone too long. Lets see :)
