I know that the first generation Apple TV runs a modified version of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, and it’s possible to get regular Tiger and even Leopard running as well. However, those versions run like crap due to a lack of graphics acceleration via the built-in Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 GPU.
I think it’s likely that 10.4 could get graphics acceleration in the Apple TV, since that’s what it runs by default. However, I don’t know if it has graphics acceleration at all, since it might not be necessary for what it does, though I doubt it.
I’d like to get my Mac OS X86 project to run on the Apple TV, and I’d prefer to have GPU acceleration, so let me know if it exists for the Apple TV and if so, what kexts it uses. I’d like to get a 1st-gen Apple TV to test this out, and work on the Apple TV version of OS X86.
